Adapting for your passion
My Australian Shepherd, Bubbles, is a frisbee fanatic. Besides eating and cuddling, good living IS frisbee. Recently, she injured one of her legs, which has made jumping to catch the frisbee more difficult. I suggest lots of other ways to play, but if it isn’t frisbee, it isn’t happening.
So, we have adapted. I have learned to throw a new way that arcs the frisbee up high for a steep decent. And she has changed her catch style by running ahead of the frisbee so she can catch it nearer to the ground. It’s fascinating. She’s recovering quickly and still doing what she wants to do, because frisbee is her passion.
Think about your passion. What obstacles are keeping you from your passion? You have to adapt. Prioritize your passion, and change your environment, your behavior, and/or the expectations of others to make time for the things you love. If you don’t allocate the time to do what makes you happy, who will?
Bubbles knows what’s most important in her life. There is a lesson in that for all of us.
